This course enables students to explore careers in the healthcare industry and develop skills in patient care for acute and long-term care settings. Students receive CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers, and gain hands-on experience through classroom instruction, labs, and supervised clinicals. Successful completion of the course, clinicals, and passing the Maryland Board of Nursing–approved examination qualifies students for the Certified Nursing Assistant I (CNA-I) certification.
Foundations of Medicine and Health Science A/B, Structures and Functions of the Human Body A/B, and a Grade of B or better in Biology A/B.
Must be co-enrolled in an appropriate level of math and Chemistry A/B.
